Position Summary
The Landscaping Technician is responsible for maintaining clean, attractive, and functional outdoor spaces. This role supports overall site appearance through routine landscape maintenance, seasonal tasks, and safe operation of tools and equipment. The technician works under the direction of the Landscape Maintenance Manager and performs a variety of groundskeeping duties to ensure public areas remain welcoming and well maintained.
What You’ll Do

Maintain site landscaping, including lawns, trees, shrubs, and planted areas

Keep sidewalks, paved areas, yards, and designated sites free of weeds and debris

Trim trees, hedges, and shrubs; prevent and eliminate weeds
-
Clear brush and remove trees, stumps, and debris as needed
-
Water and mulch landscape plants and container plants as required
-
Spread mulch and assist with composting operations
-
Remove trash, litter, and debris; empty trash receptacles
-
Clean exterior public areas
-
Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, tillers, trimmers, and hand tools

Operate and maintain trucks and power tools
-
Safely apply herbicides in public areas
-
Remove snow and ice using shovels or snow blowers during winter conditions
Safety & Equipment Responsibilities

Safely operate multiple types of machinery and perform basic preventive maintenance

Follow all safety procedures when using hand and power tools

Assist with maintenance and inventory of landscape tools and equipment

Perform daily safety checks of grounds, including drainage ditches and culverts
-
Maintain accurate records of chemical usage
Additional Duties

Attend required meetings and trainings

Participate in public engagement or interpreted events when needed, wearing appropriate attire

What You’ll Need

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience preferred

Valid North Carolina Driver’s License (required)

Physical Demands

Extensive physical activity in outdoor environments

Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
