What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAMP R.O.B.I.N SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR position at Old Bridge Township?
The Township of Old Bridge is seeking qualified and reliable Camp ROBIN Group Counselor for its Summer Camp Program. Selected candidates must be fully available to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., from June 29 through August 7 . Mandatory Staff training will be held in June. Date and time TBD.
Hourly Rate: $15.92 - $18.50 Based on qualifications and experience.
The Camp Counselor is responsible for supervising and actively engaging campers in recreational, educational, and social activities while ensuring their safety, well-being, and enjoyment. This role includes supporting campers during activities such as games and crafts, managing group behavior, serving as a positive role model, maintaining a safe and organized environment, overseeing daily routines, and communicating regularly with the Team Supervisor and fellow staff members.
The Team Supervisor reports directly to the Team Supervisor and the Group Supervisor. Experience working with children with learning disabilities, as well as certifications such as CPR and First Aid, are considered a plus .
The camp is located at Geick Park, 4141 Route 516, Matawan, NJ 07747 .
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Maintaining a safe, positive and enjoyable camp experience for all participants.
· Assist Team Supervisor in implementing the daily schedule while keeping campers engaged while meeting campers' emotional, physical and cognitive needs.
· Ability to sustain physical activity throughout the camp day, including walking outdoors, actively engaging with campers on the playground, and assisting with a wide range of activities such as basketball, skating, and trips to a waterpark. This role also requires daily exposure to varying weather conditions, including sun, wind, and rain.
· 1:1 supervision of a camper if assigned.
· Monitor campers at all times, enforce rules and seek assistance when needed.
· Implement any additional work responsibilities that may be asked of you.
· Attending and actively participating in weekly staff meetings.
