Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and versatile Maintenance I/Delivery Driver to join our dynamic maintenance team. This role combines essential maintenance responsibilities with reliable delivery duties, ensuring that our facilities operate smoothly and efficiently while supporting logistical needs.
Under general supervision of the Director of Facilities and Transportation, performs semi-skilled work in the building trades, groundskeeping, and or manages the warehouse.
The Maintenance Worker I classification is distinguished from other classes in the maintenance series in that incumbents receive general supervision, and tasks performed are of an average degree of difficulty. The most difficult maintenance and grounds keeping duties may be assigned to incumbents in this class for training purposes, but the degree of supervision and review of completed work would be more extensive than for the Maintenance Worker II or Groundskeeper/Maintenance classes.
Assists the Director and/or Maintenance Worker II by performing any combination of the following duties:
Knowledge of:
- General warehouse concepts and procedures;
- Standard practices of at least one of the building trades including materials, tools, and procedures;
- Applicable code requirements;
- Approved methods of planting, propagating and caring for hedges, trees, shrubs, lawns and flowers;
- Gardening materials, tools and equipment and their use and care;
- Common plant diseases and insect pests;
- Tools, materials, and equipment used in gardening work and in the maintenance, repair and construction of sprinkler systems, concrete walks and chain link fences.
- Performing maintenance work of a general nature such as replacing fuses, fixtures, socket drop cords and switches;
- Changing ballast on fluorescent lights and assists with wiring;
- Building forms, mixes, pours and finishes concrete work;
- Repairing cyclone and wooden fences, replacing slats, mending wire, and resetting posts;
- Performing general carpentry work to repair and refinish benches, doors, hinges, floors, desks and drawers; repairing and adjusting doors and door hardware including door closers and panic hardware;
- Installing, maintaining, and making minor repairs to plumbing, including replacing broken pipes;
- Cleaning clogged drains, replacing gaskets, washers, flush valves and fixtures and repairing sprinklers and replacing broken sprinkler pipe;
- Performing minor maintenance and repair work on heating equipment, pump motors and other mechanical equipment;
- Installing and repairing playground equipment, including ARC welding;
- Painting door signs and other painting of buildings, facilities and equipment as assigned;
- Performing glazier and locksmith work as required;
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Assists the Director and/or Maintenance Worker II by performing any combination of the following duties:
- Receives goods and independently ensures accuracy of invoices;
- Unloads/stores incoming shipments;
- Rotates stock and maintains adequate stock levels;
- Assembles and delivers stock to complete orders.
Ability to:
- Inventory stored goods;
- Lift a minimum of 75 pounds using correct body mechanics;
- Use and care for tools of the trade;
- Work from plans and specifications;
- Perform skilled gardening and grounds maintenance duties;
- Operate power driven grounds maintenance equipment;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties;
- Maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties;
- Learn and follow the practices, rules, and regulations of the District and the school to which assigned;
- Maintain the confidentiality of school related information.
- A California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles;
- Must possess and maintain a safe driving record, free from any violations that would cause the license and be suspended, restricted, or otherwise limited.
- Graduation from twelfth grade or equivalent.
- One year of related experience as an apprentice in warehouse management , a building trade, groundskeeping, or the equivalent.
- Post Offer/Pre-Placement Physical examination is required prior to hire. Physical demands are available for review upon request.
Pay: $25.54 - $31.03 per hour
