Quality Control Technician
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Quality Control Technician to join our cosmetics manufacturing team. The QC Technician will be responsible for testing, inspecting, and documenting raw materials, in-process materials, and finished cosmetic products to ensure they meet company specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, solid analytical skills, and a working knowledge of quality control practices within a cosmetics or personal care manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual and physical inspections of packaging components, labels, and finished goods for defects, color match, fill weight, and overall appearance.
- Collect and prepare samples for testing, including retain/reserve samples and stability samples.
- Accurately record, calculate, and document test results in batch records, and quality systems.
- Verify batch records and packaging records for completeness and accuracy prior to product release.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FDA cosmetic regulations, and company SOPs.
- Identify and report out-of-specification (OOS) results, non-conformances, and quality deviations to QC/QA Supervisor.
- Assist in root cause investigations, deviations, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.
- Support incoming inspection of raw materials and components from suppliers/vendors.
- Assist with equipment and process validation activities as needed.
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections by providing accurate documentation and records.
- Communicate testing status and results clearly to production, R&D, and QA teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science field preferred.
- Previous experience in quality control, preferably within a cosmetics, personal care, or consumer products manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of GMP, FDA cosmetic labeling regulations, and quality control principles preferred.
- Ability to accurately perform and interpret laboratory tests and measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and good documentation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, and work in both laboratory and production floor environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and quality/laboratory software systems).
- Reliable transportation to go between buildings
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with cosmetic-specific testing (viscosity, pH, specific gravity, microbial testing) is a plus.
- Familiarity with ISO 22716 (Cosmetics GMP) standards preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing priorities with competing deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify trends or anomalies in data.
