Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research to study the molecular mechanisms by which calcium signaling regulates cell differentiation and biomineralization during biofilm development and integrates with other signaling systems in the human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
- Participate actively in laboratory meetings, departmental seminars, and collaborative research activities. Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and new research directions.
- A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or closely related discipline by the position’s start date (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).
- Demonstrated research experience in bacterial physiology and genetics, molecular cloning, transcriptomics, and microscopy.
- Evidence of research productivity appropriate to career stage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and scientific communication skills.
- A commitment to rigorous, ethical, and reproducible research practices.
- Experience in recombinant protein work and biochemical characterization.
- Evidence of strong communication and mentoring skills.
