The Student Employee is responsible for providing customer (student) assistance in addition to clerical and other general office support to the Office of Student Support Services.

Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the Summer semester.

OR

Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Computer literate.

Positive interpersonal skills.

Sensitive to confidential information.

Comfortable assisting individuals with disabilities and students in crisis.

Customer service oriented attitude and behavior.

Professional appearance and attitude.

Punctual.

Ability to follow directions and work independently.

Ability to utilize a computer and learn new computer skills when necessary.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently move about the Student Support Services office and OCCC campus to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials or equipment and/or to assist students.

This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, scaffolding, ramp, etc. to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to grasp materials or equipment.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Good phone skills and etiquette.

Customer service work experience.

Initiative and willingness to learn.
Required Training Work Hours
Flexible depending on student class schedule and needs of the department. May be required to work until 6 p.m.
