Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients in the hospital setting. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN delivers high-quality care while adhering to established protocols, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments to identify and address individual care needs.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
- Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition promptly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans.
Emergency and Acute Care:
- Conduct triage to prioritize care based on patient acuity.
- Respond to life-threatening conditions with prompt, evidence-based interventions.
- Stabilize patients experiencing medical emergencies, utilizing critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.
- Provide care to patients with diverse diagnoses, from acute illnesses to chronic conditions.
Clinical Expertise:
- Operate and maintain medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain proficiency in advanced interventions, such as wound care, IV therapy, and cardiac monitoring.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Communicate effectively with providers, team members, and patients to ensure continuity of care.
- Report significant changes in patient conditions or critical incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Patient Advocacy and Education:
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
- Advocate for patients’ rights, safety, and preferences within the care team.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during stressful or traumatic situations.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians, specialists, and other nurses to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.
- Participate in daily care rounds and interdisciplinary team meetings to optimize care outcomes.
- Mentor and support less experienced staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.

- Participate in CQI/QAPI activities, NVHD Performance Improvement Initiatives, and Disaster Preparedness education/exercises, and complete duties as assigned in case of emergencies/ICS stand-up.
- Completes mandatory training timely.
- Demonstrates the ability to make decisions, take appropriate action, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Effectively collaborates with peers and team members, using tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
- Demonstrates leadership responsibility and skills, including planning and completing duties with minimal directions from the supervisor when appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned, provided skills, abilities, and qualifications are appropriate and sufficient training is provided.

- Work environment: Works inside in close working quarters with co-workers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Exposures: Muscular strain, body fluids, behavior of clients/patients/residents, infectious material, chemicals/cleaning solutions, potential allergens such as plants/flowers, and noxious odors.
Role Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing;
- Currently licensed in Washington State as a Registered Nurse; or has an WABON approved Compact RN License
- Current CPR Certification; ACLS or equivalent training.
- Current WA DOH approved Suicide Prevention
- TNCC Certification (required for ER)
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to relate to patients, residents, staff, and the public in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
- Electronic Healthcare Record experience.
- A demonstrated ability to be flexible and organized.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Experience using a variety of technology and virtual meeting platforms, demonstrated understanding of telephone operation and courtesy, and exceptional customer service skills.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and /or additional languages
