Summary: Provides leadership, consultation, and direction to all maintenance departments. Performs administrative duties in preparing and maintaining records, reviews maintenance production and preventive maintenance reports and follows through on deviations from expected results and goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs maintenance departments for both slaughter and debone plants.
  • Performs administrative duties in preparing and analyzing reports for maintenance.
  • Holds maintenance supervisors accountable for hourly maintenance personnel and maintenance downtime.
  • Manages the learning and training of subordinates to continually improve their knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains close and effective working relationship with production, quality control, and USDA.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages up to four subordinate supervisors who supervise up to 35 employees in the maintenance department. The superintendent Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in engineering or business administration; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
