Company Description

The Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation (OSPF) is a non-profit organization that works tirelessly to prevent one of our most preventable causes of death: suicide. Our work includes reducing the stigma of suicide, promoting evidence-based prevention strategies, and raising awareness about suicide’s relationship to mental illness and substance use disorders, and other factors that contribute to suicide. OSPF collaborates with state and county agencies, private providers, partner organizations, and community members to provide comprehensive support for at-risk groups through evidence-based and informed prevention programs. OSPF is working to diversify its funding streams through events and stewardship of individuals, corporations, and foundations. While this position would support the expansion of all of these streams, it will focus heavily on community-based and organization-driven events.


Position Summary

This full-time position reports to the Chief of Staff. This role will focus on donor and event management and may assist in foundation and corporate giving. The Special Events Coordinator will represent OSPF and provide support to external fundraising events while also acting as the first point of contact for donors. Additionally, the Special Events Coordinator will work to grow the base of annual fund donors through outreach and marketing campaigns for fundraising purposes. There may be an opportunity for growth within this position as the development department evolves, dependent on interest and performance.


Primary Duties

  • Staff and manage all internal and external fundraising events
  • Assist with donor outreach, cultivation, and stewardship
  • Manage all aspects of the donor database including, but not limited to, donations,
  • applications, funding awards, sponsorships, individual and household giving, distribution
  • lists, data management, and acknowledgements
  • Research and identify grant and sponsorship opportunities
  • Collaborate with fund development personnel to execute the fundraising plan
  • Collaborate with communications personnel for marketing assets, such as fundraising
  • appeals and other donor communication
  • Managing partnerships with grantmakers, sponsors, and donors
  • Performs other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate would possess the following diverse skills and personality traits:

  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple teams internally and with external
  • stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work with direction and minimal supervision
  • High level of personal responsiveness to donors and partners
  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong communication and technical-writing skills (grant-specific experience not required
  • but preferred)
  • Interest in being in a public-facing role and engaging with existing and potential donors
  • High level of discretion and judgement when working with donors and potential donors


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant lived experience
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in a related field
  • Database management experience is a plus
  • Experience in executing events, coordinating details, and working with committees or
  • related groups.
  • Experience with fundraising is preferred.


The salary range for this role will be $50,000-$55,000 annually with a competitive benefits package including paid time off, medical, vision and dental insurance, and a retirement plan. This full-time role would consist of 40 hours a week, primarily Monday through Friday in a hybrid work environment, but will require evenings and weekends as dictated by event scheduling.
