As the first point of contact for the Office of Budget and Management (OBM), this role provides front‑desk reception, customer assistance, and operational support to state agencies, vendors, and the public. The position also performs essential fiscal, purchasing, and accounting functions that help ensure accurate processing, compliant procurement, and strong customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable balancing administrative and financial responsibilities. The selected candidate must be available to work 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as OBM’s front‑desk receptionist by greeting visitors, answering phones, coordinating mail and deliveries, and providing timely assistance to internal and external customers.
- Review and process purchasing requests by verifying coding and justifications, ensuring compliance with state/federal requirements, entering and tracking requests in OhioBuys, and issuing purchase orders.
- Manage invoice review and payment workflows, including validating coding and documentation, confirming receipt of goods/services, coordinating with Financial Support Services, and responding to vendor or auditor inquiries.
- Maintain financial records and data—entering deposits in OAKS, preparing fiscal reports, managing payment card system data, and assisting with asset tracking and surplus processes.
- Perform general administrative and accounting support functions such as maintaining files, processing returned warrants, submitting maintenance requests, and assisting staff with procurement guidance.
- Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
- Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Associate, 66561.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
