Position: Buildings & Grounds Technician
Status: Part time, seasonal (April - October 2026)
Location: Harding Presidential Sites, Marion, Ohio
Compensation: $16/hour
Summary:
Responsible for maintaining the historic, natural, or prehistoric site property with an emphasis on carrying out a skilled trade.
May complete routine building maintenance and custodial work such as cleaning, washing windows, and mopping floors; assists maintenance staff in performing minor building repairs; participates in scraping, sanding and painting projects.
May perform grounds maintenance duties such as mowing, weeding, and general grass and weed management; plants vegetative material and applies herbicide and insecticides to lawns, shrubs, and trees; participates in grounds and forest management activities and operates associated maintenance equipment.
May operate heavy machinery and/or maintain mowing equipment, tractors, trucks, snow blowers and other equipment used in the maintenance and operation of the historic site.
May participate in general site maintenance and opening and closing procedures.
Maintain maintenance records and prepare monthly reports.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree in horticulture, forestry, construction trade or equivalent plus minimum of two years experience in facilities maintenance
- Must hold a valid Ohio driver's license and be able to travel within the state of Ohio
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, carry, move, or position items to weigh up to or more than 75 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to lift and lower 25 pounds above shoulder level
- Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling for prolonged periods of time to complete essential job functions.
- Must be comfortable working outside in a variety of weather conditions
