- Serves as lead worker (e.g., provides work direction and training) over plumbers or trades workers and/or inmates engaged in plumbing work Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing plumbing (e.g., unclogs commodes, sinks and sewage lines, replaces traps, valves and thermostats)
- Installs water, steam and gas lines and hooks up laundry, laboratory and kitchen equipment
- Maintains building facilities and equipment (e.g., checks pipes, plumbing and fixtures for signs of corrosion)
- Checks and lubricates pumps and valves and changes filters
- Makes minor repair on steam lines
- Performs support duties related to plumbing (e.g., order supplies, materials and equipment)
- Reads blueprints, prepares job estimates, maintains job records and prepares reports
- Establish and conduct preventive maintenance programs for plumbing systems and equipment
- Serves on institutional committees
- Attends training, seminars and/or meetings as required
- Performs security functions as required (e.g., man-down, shakedown, inmate movement)
- Or 6 mos. exp. as Plumber 1, 52261.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
