Program initiatives include the promotion of healthy eating and active living, as well as the prevention of chronic diseases, tobacco use, child injuries, sexual assault, domestic violence, and drug overdoses.
BHIW is seeking one Public Health Consultant to serve as a statewide consultant for cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship efforts. Job duties include:
- Provide technical assistance and guidance for cancer prevention and control grants and contracts
- Track program and state plan objectives; maintain records and reports
- Develop and coordinate health promotion/education materials and activities
- Facilitate internal and external partnerships, including cancer coalitions and healthcare partners
- Prepare, review, and manage grants, budgets, contracts, and funding recommendations
- Conduct research, literature reviews, and evaluation to inform program planning and outcomes
- Provide technical assistance to stakeholders and respond to inquiries from partners and the public
Option 1:
- 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
- Completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field
- Must be able to provide own transportation.
Option 2
- 18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
- Completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field
- Must be able to provide own transportation.

- Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health care, or health administration
- Experience working in chronic diseases (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular disease)
- Experience with chronic disease screenings (e.g., cancer, blood pressure)
- Experience in identifying and developing stakeholder partnerships
- Experience developing and presenting training or public speaking
- Experience providing technical assistance or consultation
- Experience working with grants and contracts
- Experience working with confidential information
- Experience with computer software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
