What You'll Do

BHIW is seeking one Public Health Consultant to serve as a statewide consultant for cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship efforts. Job duties include:

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance for cancer prevention and control grants and contracts
  • Track program and state plan objectives; maintain records and reports
  • Develop and coordinate health promotion/education materials and activities
  • Facilitate internal and external partnerships, including cancer coalitions and healthcare partners
  • Prepare, review, and manage grants, budgets, contracts, and funding recommendations
  • Conduct research, literature reviews, and evaluation to inform program planning and outcomes
  • Provide technical assistance to stakeholders and respond to inquiries from partners and the public

Position Qualifications

Option 1:

  • 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
  • Completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.

Option 2

  • 18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
  • Completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

  • Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health care, or health administration
  • Experience working in chronic diseases (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular disease)
  • Experience with chronic disease screenings (e.g., cancer, blood pressure)
  • Experience in identifying and developing stakeholder partnerships
  • Experience developing and presenting training or public speaking
  • Experience providing technical assistance or consultation
  • Experience working with grants and contracts
  • Experience working with confidential information
  • Experience with computer software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
