The Division of Financial Institutions ensures Ohioans’ money is safe by regulating financial institutions and service providers. This includes examining, supervising and regulating Ohio chartered banks and credit unions, and licensing and regulating non-depository mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators, and other consumer lenders. The Division’s Office of Consumer Affairs provides assistance to consumers to help resolve complaints against these institutions and works to provide education to Ohioans regarding financial literacy and other consumer protection topics.

This position is based out of Franklin County, Ohio, with accompanying work in contiguous counties. The headquarter location is the candidates home and the selected candidate must live in or in a contiguous county of Franklin County.

What You'll Do

  • Acts as examination team leader on mid-size credit unions or independently examines credit unions normally assigned to lower-level examiners
  • Coordinates analysis of records, documents, and financial data of credit unions
  • Write final reports and recommends corrective action
  • Monitors compliance of state and federal rules/regulations and reports to supervisor any non-compliance
  • Acts as the primary point of contact and presents reports to the Board and Senior Management
  • Trains lower level examiners as needed

Unusual Working Conditions

Requires overnight travel (i.e., both in-state & out-of-state).

Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance or comparable coursework for all positions except those involved in information technology examinations; 3 yrs. exp., within 5 years from date of application, in audit or financial analysis related work experience for firm, government agency or financial institution; valid driver's license.

  • Or for positions involved in information technology examinations, applicants must have undergraduate degree in information technology; 3 yrs. exp., within 5 years from date of application, in audit or information technology related work experience for firm, government agency or financial institution; valid driver's license.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Institution Examiner 2, 66142 or other comparable regulatory experience (office of thrift supervision, national credit union administration, federal deposit insurance corporation, office of comptroller of currency or federal reserve system); valid driver's license.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
