Ohio Department of Behavioral Health
Columbus, OH Full Time
POSTED ON 8/2/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/30/2026
Please note: Effective October 1, 2025, the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services has transitioned to its new name—the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health. This change reflects our continued commitment to providing comprehensive, person-centered care that addresses the full range of behavioral health needs for Ohioans. All positions and services now fall under the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health as we move forward in serving individuals, families, and communities across the state.

Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare (COBH) is looking for a self-driven leader ready to make a lasting impact on the lives of the individuals we serve — and on the teams who serve them. As a Mental Health Administrator 6, you'll bring executive-level leadership to two distinct and vital parts of the COBH system: Moritz, our maximum-security forensic behavioral health hospital, and CSN, our community services division. Few roles offer this kind of scope — the chance to shape both high-security inpatient operations and community-based care under one unified leadership vision.

About Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare (COBH)

Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare (COBH) operates as a critical component of Ohio’s state-operated psychiatric hospital system within the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). As part of this coordinated statewide network of regional psychiatric hospitals, COBH works in close partnership with sister facilities to ensure consistent standards of care, operational alignment, and system-wide responsiveness to the behavioral health needs of Ohio’s communities.

COBH provides recovery-based, comprehensive, quality, cost-effective mental health services to adults with severe mental illness in a secure inpatient setting. The main facility opened in 2024 and consists of 208 acute and longer-term patient beds. The maximum-security facility, Timothy B. Moritz Forensic Unit, has four units with 52 beds and serves all 88 Ohio counties. Our Community Support Network (CSN) serves approximately 250 patients in the Franklin County community who need additional assistance integrating into the community and ensuring maintenance of their behavioral healthcare.

What You’ll Do At DBH

  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO
  • Own the quality, safety, and operational efficiency of Moritz, our maximum-security behavioral health hospital, and of CSN, our community services division
  • Provide direct oversight to the Corrections and CSN leadership
  • Build and sustain a culture that balances the principles of Trauma-Informed Care with the accountability of a Just Culture
  • Bridge inpatient forensic operations and community-based services to ensure continuity of care and consistent standards across both settings
  • Partner with clinical, security, and administrative leaders to maintain compliance with Joint Commission, Ohio Administrative Code, and other regulatory standards
  • Represent Moritz and CSN in strategic planning, budget, and policy discussions at the executive level
