What You'll Do

Installs, maintains, configures, upgrades and/or administers State Printing’s mainframe and network print applications: assesses customer printing needs, network requirements and identifies print streams and data types; designs print layouts, specifies stock, mailing and insertion requirements; advises customers on insertion and postal barcode requirements; sets up and conducts technical meetings and testing as appropriate; sets up appropriate LPR print queues; downloads ports or FTP hot directories; acts as intermediary between customer and DAS and OIT Networking staff on source/destination addressing and port requirements; configures server job ticketing for print stream translation to IPDS; performs print output testing and communication directly with agency customers through testing and into production; submits network postscript, PDF, text jobs and AFP and PRISMA V6 Server, LCDS jobs as requested; researches mainframe printing issues using PRISMA, Crawford, Syslog, Mainframe system printer logs and XPAF utilities; resubmits damaged output using Canon Prisma Production Web Interface or Adobe Acrobat; develops applications using Pro Tools software to create and modify PRISMA print resources including variable page layouts, forms, fonts and graphics; creates and maintains document related procedures, print standards, testing and other related documentation.

Serves as Canon Prisma Print Server Administrator: authorizes access to print server; performs daily housekeeping of system; backs up and restores systems; moves/deletes/edits files and directories; sets up new customer directories/queues/job tickets; specifies/assigns access levels for Prisma Production Web Interface; communicates with Canon system engineers on server functions and print stream manipulation; reports malfunctions; collects print stream files and FTPing variable data and resources to print vendor; installs system fixes and patches; instructs management, operators and customers in use and customization of screens of Canon Prisma Production Web Interface; sets up Canon Prisma Production Web Interface links for customers

Serves as DAS State Printing technical contact for interface with print vendor and serves as liaison between vendor, OIT and State Printing; creates directories on vendor site; carries out proof-of-concept testing; transfers print streams and resources for processing via secure FTP (SFTP); assists technical services staff in testing of Canon Router/ RPAC, CanonV6 Server upgrades/installation of system patches; works between vendor and OIT on needed changes; reports issues regarding ports and download issues as reported; troubleshoots communication issues; requests Access Control List setup or changes; discusses port requirements; troubleshoots and repairs workstation hardware and software issues.

Conducts system monitoring and analysis: utilizes vendor supplied and 3rd party utilities for monitoring; diagnoses, analyzes and resolves issues for customer; provides Tier II-III level customer support; conducts performance tuning for hardware and/or software; develops and maintains documentation; promotes system security and awareness by adhering to Agency’s and/or State IT Security Policy(s) & Standards; other duties as assigned.

36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: installing, monitoring/maintaining, configuring, upgrading, &/or administering/operating a single technology domain including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

Other functions include interoffice mail delivery, mail metering and presort services, and guidance regarding Records Retention and Information Management.
