PURPOSE OF JOB: Ohio County Healthcare exists to help make a difference by caring, serving, and educating individuals relative to their specific health needs. Through these actions, the general health of Ohio County and surrounding areas will improve.
MISSION STATEMENT: Ohio County Healthcare exists to provide quality laboratory services to the patients/customers of Ohio County Healthcare and surrounding areas needing this service.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The usual working space is a well-ventilated area. Requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, and lifting and storing heavy supplies. Fine and gross motor skills. The environment may be stressful at times, therefore the ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. May have occasional exposure to radiation during radiology procedures and to dangerous chemicals (cleaning, disinfecting agents, fixatives and preservatives).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen collection, handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
2. Performs proficiency testing samples in the same manner as patient specimens. 3. Adhering to the laboratory’s Quality Control policies and documenting all Quality Control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance, under the supervision of an MLT or MT. 4. Following the laboratory’s policies, including taking and documenting corrective actions, whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance. 5. Being able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test result reporting and correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor 6. Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. 7. If required by route of qualification, perform moderate complexity testing only under the on-site direct supervision of an MLT or MT. 8. May include oversite of the phlebotomy team A. and continues professional self-development and exhibits positive human relations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent (May be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6-months) 2. EXPERIENCE: 1 year phlebotomy PREFERRED certified phlebotomy. 3. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Organized, detailed oriented, keyboarding skills, self-motivated. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
