What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Rights Field Manager-Dayton position at Ohio Civil Rights Commission?
Manages regional investigative program in assigned region and supervises activities of staff (e.g. Civil Rights Field Supervisor, clerical support) in enforcement of laws against discrimination. Plans, organizes & evaluates charge processing methods and procedures to identify, document and define proposed settlements. Directs activity of regional office (e.g. trains staff in collection of investigative information, writing of required reports and structure of proposals; interviews & evaluates prospective applicants; directs both staff and line functions of regional office; meets regularly with agency staff, resolves internal problems, adjusts grievances, issues discipline, prepares & conducts performance and participates in planning improved methods of review and/or delivery of services). Oversees preparation of production reports, regional budgeting & ordering equipment and supplies for regions; participates in development of agency policy and procedure. Manages most difficult cases in enforcement of laws against discrimination and researches and evaluates case processing methods to ensure that cases are within jurisdictions and cases comply with ORC 4112. Prepares and presents cases for reconsideration before the Commission. Acts for and on behalf of supervisor in areas regarding change in regional policies and procedures (e.g. charge processing methods to ensure prompt resolution of case dispositions).
Maintains contact with public and private agencies to explain and promote program, and to update civil rights data via organizational newsletters, articles media, correspondences, speaking engagements and personal contacts; conducts public relations activities for agency and interprets laws administered by agency for public use and application; conducts seminars dealing with ORC 4112 coordinates program activities with area agencies and groups.
Directs investigation of complaints of discrimination; conducts and/or participates in conciliation conferences between agency and respondent.
