What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructor Core 101: Narratives of the Self position at OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY INC?
The Oglethorpe University Core Program is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Oglethorpe’s unique Core 101: Narratives of the Self class during the Fall 2026 semester. Our Core Narratives of the Self course is an exciting approach to general education first-year writing and introduction to literary studies through the themes of self and identity. Students in this course strengthen their analytical reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while reading ancient to Medieval literature and philosophical texts. Successful applicants must be interested in progressive, student-centered models of literary studies and writing composition education. Applicants will be expected to foster an inclusive learning environment by engaging in and promoting diverse teaching, learning, and mentoring communities.
Teaching assignments will be based on instructor experience, areas of expertise, and availability. Course sections meet 3 hours/week (either three 60-minute sessions or two 90-minute sessions). For more information about the teaching schedule, please reach out to the Director of Core Studies, at coredirectors@oglethorpe.edu.
