Job Title: Systems Engineer
Description:
The Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of OPC, GTC, and GSOC by supporting their technological infrastructure. This involves designing, deploying, and managing Windows and Linux desktop and server environments, as well as architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions through AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft 365.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing both physical and virtual servers, core cloud services, and workstation infrastructure. They monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, implement automation and configuration management, and plan and perform system upgrades.
In terms of security and compliance, the Systems Engineer ensures that systems are secure and compliant with industry standards and regulations. They manage system security configurations, participate in regular security audits, and address findings from security assessments promptly.
The Systems Engineer documents system configurations, department processes, and prepares reports and metrics on system performance. They ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, corporate policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage Windows and Linux desktop and server environments and related storage infrastructure.
- Architect and implement cloud-based solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft 365) to support business needs.
- Maintain and optimize physical and virtual servers and workstation infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, conduct regular system audits, and troubleshoot issues.
- Implement automation and configuration management.
- Implement and manage system security measures and configurations.
- Work closely with development, operations, and support teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
- Provide direct technical support for planning, coordination, programming, and implementation of releases, upgrades, and changes.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Develop, maintain, and follow department policies and procedures.
- Use ITSM toolset for documentation and support of ITIL practices such as incident management, change management, problem management, asset management, service requests, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 4 years in designing and managing technology infrastructure environments, cloud-based solutions, conducting system assessments, and troubleshooting.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:
- Microsoft Certified: Exchange Online Support Engineer
- VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization
- Microsoft Certified: ITILv3 or ITILv4 Foundation
Preferred Skills:
- Extensive experience with Active Directory, Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022) and Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and associated services including Microsoft 365.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Proxmox, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange Online and On-premises.
- Experience with configuration management tools and patch management tools.
- Proficient in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Ivanti ITSM, etc.
- In-depth understanding of network and system security best practices.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins).
- Experience in managing databases (SQL, NoSQL) and storage solutions.
