Job Title: Middle School Football Coach
Location: Ogden Community Schools, Ogden, IA
Position Summary
The Middle School Football Coach is responsible for leading, instructing, and mentoring student-athletes in the school's middle school football program. This coach will create a positive, development-focused environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, safety, and alignment with the overall vision of the district's football program. The position requires strong communication skills, a commitment to student growth, and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and the high school coaching staff.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development
- Teach fundamental football skills, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes.
- Develop practice plans that are engaging, organized, and aligned with the high school program's philosophy.
- Provide constructive feedback to help players improve individually and as a team.
- Ensure equal and appropriate playing opportunities that support athlete development.
Program Leadership
- Model and promote positive sportsmanship, character development, and academic responsibility.
- Collaborate with the high school coaching staff to build continuity within the program.
- Communicate clearly with players, parents, and staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team needs.
- Uphold school and district policies, including behavioral expectations and participation requirements.
Safety & Supervision
- Prioritize student safety at all times, following all concussion protocols, return-to-play guidelines, and district procedures.
- Supervise players before, during, and after practices, games, and team events.
- Maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper use of gear.
Administrative Duties
- Assist with organizing transportation, equipment distribution, and game-day logistics.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Report scores, player concerns, injuries, and program needs to the Activities Director.
Qualifications
- Coaching Authorization/Endorsement
- CPR Certification

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with federal and state law, board policy, and the preceding job description.
