Position Summary
Reporting to Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the operation of production departments and leadership of its people. This includes all functions of production departments processing raw onion, filling, packaging, and corresponding workforce scheduling. The Production Supervisor will act in accordance with the laws and regulations, by practicing ofi values, ensuring compliance of policies, procedures, and plant rules.
The ideal candidate for the Production Supervisor role will have a proven success record with leading and motivating teams. They should be flexible and reliable. Ability to lead a team, while also completing other demands/projects will be required. A successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and priorities.

Position Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of processes with the expectation of 75-80% of time spent on the plant floor, training, mentoring, identifying opportunities for improvement (plant, process, and personnel)
- Ensure applicable operational processes are followed. Proactively review the established processes, identify improvement opportunities, and make recommendations to the Production Manager.
- Drive towards process standardization and the elimination of all kinds of waste. Waste can be from Defective Products, Wasted Time, Wasted Motion (people or product), Inventory on Hold, etc.
- Complete all work orders, field tickets and other electronic reports each day prior to the end of your shift.
- Fill out shift reports daily. All reports due prior to the end of your shift.
- Follow up on all operators and leads to ensure they are following standard operating procedures and their responsibilities.
- Operate and control the reduced moisture process using the dryer. Maintain Dryer control sheet daily with accurate input.
- Ensure production of the highest quality product at the lowest cost.
- Review appearance of all product and processes on your shift daily.
- Teach and train all personnel you supervise in the safe and sanitary operation of the plant and equipment.
- Document and record plant functions per plant records required. i.e. GMP, Accident Reports, Safety Meetings, Production Reports and Forms.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and sanitary appearance of all facilities during your shift.
- Perform or assist with the maintenance and over-haul of all equipment as needed.
- Teach, communicate, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain tool accountability program for all company issued items.
- All personnel are responsible for food safety, food defense and are required to report any food safety risks immediately to their supervisor.
- Maintain and ensure effective communication with the Production Manager on performance, progress, issues and concerns that may affect goals.
- Maintain real-time communication with other operational department leaders ensuring problem-free operations in Warehouse, Maintenance and Facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding occupational health and food safety.
- Perform food safety inspections, monitor, and assist sanitation/QA employees to ensure proper sanitation (HAACP and GMPs).
- Assist in all departments during the non-processing season as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Processing, Engineering, Food Science or Business Administration is preferred. In lieu of degree, five (5) years of equivalent experience in operation management, Engineering, or food manufacturing will be accepted.
- Proven ability to effectively manage and train teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written form.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure with competing demands in a team environment is required.
