Position Summary

Reporting to the QFS Sr. Manager, the QFS Supervisor will oversee quality control activities, ensuring tasks are adequately performed to ofi, customer and regulatory food safety and quality standards within an ambient warehouse setting. They will be responsible for communication, data collection, and specialized tasks to enhance food safety throughout the facility. The QFS Supervisor will also verify compliance with company food safety and hygiene protocol. Non-compliance discovered in any of these areas is to be communicated to the Warehouse Sr. Manager, Quality Manager, and/or Director of Food Safety and Quality.

The ideal candidate will be for this position will have some understanding of food laws and regulations. They should have advanced risk assessment skills and be comfortable performing and leading root cause analysis and complaint trend analysis.

Position Responsibilities

  • Inspect the warehouse in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and ofi’ s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform thorough visual and physical inspections of incoming shipments (ingredients, packaging, finished goods) to verify quality, condition, packaging integrity, labeling accuracy, and compliance to specifications.
  • Understand the requirements for testing protocols for all inbound raw materials.
  • Hygienically collect samples of ingredients according to Olde Thompson standards and prepare third party chain of custody documents. Ship samples to the approved third-party laboratory.
  • Maintain organized, detailed records of incoming samples and review third party laboratory results for non-compliances.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly workplace inspections and internal audits.
  • Review receiving documents such as BOL, trailer inspection, and COAs.
  • Support product traceability and mock recall coordination.
  • Complete SCAR report when ingredients and packaging materials are non-conforming
  • Support internal audits, third party (GFSI/GMP), regulatory and customer audits by preparing documentation and leading or assisting during visits.
  • Identify potential food safety hazards and recommend preventive measures to supervisors. Generate and communicate product safety and quality reports to management.
  • Interface with Lemoore and Oxnard, CA production facility QFS personnel to maintain company expectations which are consistent between the facilities and support One ofi.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to comply with Food Safety Modernization Act, Corporate Policies and Safety Quality Food (SQF) regulations as they relate to warehouse requirements.
  • Oversee pest control activities and system at the Shafter facility. Maintain a working relationship with the third-party pest control operator and report non-conformances and/or pest sightings to management and the PCO.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality, food safety and safety training as needed with all warehouse personnel.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly workplace inspections and internal audits.
  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel on quality and safety issues and develop best practices in alignment of Corporate Quality and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Review receiving documents such as BOL, trailer inspection, and COAs.
  • Compare microbiological results between received testing results and internal specifications. Analyze test results for precision and accuracy.
  • Understand the requirements for testing protocols for all inbound raw materials.
  • Support Sanitation activities within the warehouse and provide training to employees with responsibility to complete sanitation related tasks. Review Sanitation records for completeness and identify new or additional tasks to support the overall cleanliness of the warehouse.
  • Oversee allergen and identity preserved management for sampling and storage.
  • Generate and communicate product safety and quality reports.
  • Maintain supply inventory for QA related functions.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and maintaining sanitary work practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum education required: High School diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum years of experience required: Four (4) years’ experience in Food Industry with two (2) years’ supervisory or lead experience is required.
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual certification preferred.
  • Be able to communicate with multiple departments to complete daily tasks.
  • Forklift driving experience for inbound and outbound trucks preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of good sanitation practices and good manufacturing practices is required.
  • High level of competency with manufacturing, inventory, and traceability system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products is required.
  • Food Safety Modernization Act - Preventive Controls Qualified Individual training course certified is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and communicate with internal customers is required.
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point certification is preferred.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish is preferred.

The pay for this role ranges from $74,000 - $98,000 annually and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
