Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Press Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 (or similar Heidelberg sheet-fed offset press). You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the press to produce top-quality, high-speed print jobs, while adhering to strict safety and color management standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup & Operation: Efficiently set up and operate a 5 Color Heidelberg SM 74 with CP1/CPTronic, Coater, and Rutherford Closed Loop System with Intelletrax 2.
- Makeready: Perform quick and accurate makeready, plate changes, and ink fountain setups to minimize waste and downtime.
- Quality Control: Monitor print quality throughout the run, ensuring color consistency, accurate registration, and strict adherence to job specifications.
- Color Management: Perform color adjustments and troubleshoot ink/dampening issues.
- Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance and minor troubleshooting to ensure the press operates at maximum efficiency.
- Production Monitoring: Monitor ink levels, paper feeding, and delivery systems to ensure smooth production flow.
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating Heidelberg sheet-fed presses (SM 74 preferred).
- Strong understanding of offset printing processes and color management.
- Ability to read and understand complex job tickets and specifications.
- Keen eye for color, detail, and quality control.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Physical ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 40 lbs regularly (ink pails, plates).
