Offit Kurman, an AmLaw 200 law firm, is seeking a HR & Benefits Specialist to join their team. This role provides support for employee benefits and HR operations, including benefits enrollment, employee inquiries, leave administration, HRIS processing, and compliance activities. Experience with UKG/UltiPro or similar platforms is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration
- Respond to employee and manager benefits and 401(k) inquiries; provide guidance on coverage, eligibility, and plan features as needed
- Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations. Assist with open enrollment, COBRA, and leave tracking (FMLA, disability, parental leave)
- Coordinate with vendors and brokers; process and reconcile benefits invoices
- Support renewals, audits, and communications; maintain compliance documentation
HR Operations
- Execute HRIS data entry and updates in UKG Pro, including running reports and processing employment status changes to support business needs
- Process verifications, I-9s, onboarding, and offboarding including separation materials
- Assist with compliance audits and record keeping including EEO, I-9, and personnel files
- Respond to employee HR inquiries in a timely manner
- Support HR team on special projects and process improvement initiatives including system enhancements
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned to support HR and benefits operations
Requirements:
- Proficiency with HRIS or similar systems (UKG Pro preferred)
- Strong Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and customer service skills with ability to handle confidential information
- Problem-solving ability and teamwork skills
- Ability to learn new systems and adapt to technology changes
Qualifying Experience:
- Associate's degree required, OR 2-3 years of related work experience in lieu of degree
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- 2-3 years HR and/or benefits administration experience required; 3-5 years preferred
- Experience with high-volume benefits enrollments and leave administration (FMLA, disability)
- UKG Pro experience strongly preferred
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) or benefits certification (CEBS, GBA, CBP) preferred
- HRIS implementation or modernization project experience preferred
- Law firm or professional services experience
- Benefits vendor management experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, occasional lifting of up to 15lbs. Occasional travel into a physical work location.
Work Environment: Standard office environment physical requirements.
