Duties Description
Plan, direct, and monitor comprehensive audits, examinations, and appraisals of accounting records and financial affairs, of public, for profit, and non-profit organizations and businesses to ensure that accounts are maintained in compliance with governing laws, rules, regulations and contracts. Function as an administrative supervisor of multiple audit teams each led by an Auditor 2 and, may oversee the operations of a district office. Review audit work of assigned staff for accuracy, adherence to schedules and compliance with applicable regulations.
Conducts risk assessments of allegations or indications of potential fraud. Conducts audits/examinations of potential fraud. Assists law enforcement and administrative agencies in pursuing matters of potential fraud. Supervision of audit staff.
Minimum Qualifications
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
For a 70.1 or 52.6 transfer to an Auditor 3, salary grade (SG)-27, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to a SG-25 or above.

- Strong interest in conducting fraud examinations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to collect, synthesize and analyze large volumes of information quickly, competently and efficiently
- Experience in interviewing witnesses
- Experience in interacting with the public and outside agencies
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely
- Accounting or forensic audit experience preferred
- Ability to manage large, diverse caseload
- Knowledge of functions and authority of other OSC Divisions
