What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Privacy & Theft Unit - Clerical Support position at Office of the Indiana Attorney General?
Responsible for intake of consumer complaints and other notifications submitted to the Data Privacy & Identity Theft Unit and other administrative tasks. Reports to Investigations Manager of Data Privacy & Identity Theft Unit.

- Privacy violations, including HIPAA and Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act
- Data breaches involving personal information
- Telephone privacy issues including robocalling
- Identity theft, fraud, and credit reporting
- Abandoned records
- Age verification for adult websites
- Prioritizes and processes online/mailed/faxed/emailed consumer complaints and other notifications received by the Data Privacy & Identity Theft Unit.
- Determines if consumer complaints and notifications are complete or if additional information or documentation is required.
- Creates, maintains, and archives electronic records in AdvoLogix case management softwarein accordance with office standards.
- Scans, maintains, and archives paper records as needed in accordance with office standards.
- Collaborates with Chief Data Officer as needed on data management processes.
- Serves as a contact person for consumers requesting information regarding their complaint form and for businesses during initial intake processes.
- Performs initial investigatory tasks as needed.
- Maintains calendars for staff as needed.
- Assists staff with printing, copying, and mailing.
- Assists paralegal with attorney support, court filings, and file maintenance as needed.
- Assists staff with IT troubleshooting as appropriate.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years general office experience required.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other staff.
- Proficient computer skills required, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and case management software.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and the public.
- Must be able to work on his or her own at times with little supervision.
- Adherence to highest standards of ethical conduct, including need for confidentiality.
