Data Scientist

This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of the Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications:

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position includes:

• Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis for financial cross- sectional data; AND
• Collecting data through multiple mechanisms (e.g., surveys or HUD systems) for data analysis; AND
• Preparing and delivering technical/narrative reports for making program decisions; AND - Reporting results or trends in graphs, charts, or dashboards

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position includes:

• Conducting complex data analysis and interpretation; AND
• Applying advanced data science techniques, statistical methods, and machine learning algorithms; AND
• Preparing and presenting data reports to inform program decisions.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position includes:

• Conducting data collection and analysis independently; AND
• Applying intermediate data science techniques and methodologies; AND
• Preparing data reports and visualizations.

OR

3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

Combination of experience and education. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. (Attach a copy of transcripts to ensure you receive proper credit).

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). The mission of OCFO is to lead the Department's Headquarters and Field Office officials toward the understanding and practice of sound financial management in program development and operations, and in the stewardship of public resources.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

As a Data Scientist, you will:

• Work independently and use the necessary data extraction, manipulation, and aggregation techniques and procedures to make information useable.
• Coordinate and manage customer requirements and specifications for data products across HUD.
• programs, policies and regulations, compliance reviews with regulation and/or statutory requirements and to support general decision making across satellite offices and DEC HQ that impact general operations and HUD participants.

Salary : $85,447
