WHITE COLLAR & PUBLIC INTEGRITY DIVISION

(Boston Office)

 

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated Paralegal to support the work of the White Collar & Public Integrity Division (WCPID).

 

The White Collar & Public Integrity Division is charged with investigating and prosecuting financial crimes (including fiduciary embezzlement by professionals, complex financial frauds, and tax fraud schemes) and public corruption matters (including a broad array of schemes involving public officials, public institutions, and public funds).

 

Primary Duties: The Paralegal will provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to the employees of the WCPID. These duties will include the following responsibilities:

 

·         Drafting administrative, grand jury, and trial subpoenas, as well as witness summonses, preservation orders, and other correspondence, at the direction of prosecutors.

·         Assisting with fact gathering using databases, open-source information, and other investigative techniques.

·         Reviewing records, organizing large amounts of diverse information, and creating chronologies, summary charts, and spreadsheets to further investigations and summarize findings.

·         Analyzing digital evidence in furtherance of investigations and prosecutions.

·         Assisting in preparation of exhibits, slide decks, and summary charts for grand jury presentations, court hearings, and trials.

·         Supporting litigation matters by drafting court pleadings and assembling, reviewing, and producing discovery, including notices of discovery.

·         Maintaining and updating a case management system to track referrals, investigations, and prosecutions for the WCPID.

·         Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic case files.

·         Investigating and replying to citizen complaints of criminal wrongdoing.

·         Communicating with attorneys and witnesses, as well as court clerks' offices and members of the public.

·         Managing calendars, including the scheduling of case-related meetings and deadlines.

·         Researching policy and legal matters pertinent to the WCPID’s work and initiatives.

·         Assisting in the coordination of trainings and assembly of training materials.

·         Assisting in the preparation of annual reports reflecting WCPID case outcomes.

·         Performing additional duties, as necessary, to effectuate the above responsibilities.

 

The Paralegal will work closely with prosecutors, victim witness advocates, investigators, and administrative support personnel within the Criminal Bureau, as well as with federal, state, and law enforcement partners.

 

Position Type:  Full-Time/Non-Exempt

 

Location: The Paralegal hired for this position will work out of the AGO’s Boston Office. Our hybrid model may include some telework days for the successful applicant. For the first six months of the position, the Paralegal will be expected to work in the office at least three or four days per week.

 

Salary: $55,375

Position Requirements: 

·         Bachelor’s or associate degree or an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience, required.

·         Demonstrated interest, and understanding of, the sensitive nature of working on investigations involving organized and public corruption crimes.

·         Prior criminal and/or civil litigation and e-discovery experience, preferred.

·         Effective verbal and written communication skills with a high level of professionalism.

·         Analytical skills, sound judgement in decision-making, and excellent attention to detail.

·         Proficiency with technology, computers, and Microsoft Office programs.

·         Ability to travel across the Commonwealth, as needed.
