What are the responsibilities and job description for the Institutional Investigation Unit Worker position at Office of Shared Administration (WV)?

Under limited supervision, the Institutional Investigation Unit Worker in the Institutional Investigation Unit (IIU) performs advanced and complex social casework in the specialized area of investigating child maltreatment in out-of-home care settings. Work is characterized by cases involving abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of children in licensed residential facilities, daycares, foster care, schools and detention centers. The ability to work cooperatively with other employees, agencies, and professionals is a must. The nature of the situation requires expertise and judgment to deal with problems potentially dangerous to the client and worker.

Previous experience in APS and/or CPS is preferred.

Applicants must possess a valid WV Driver's License, and reliable transportation. Overtime hours and extensive statewide travel, including overnight travel, are required. The ability to communicate both orally and in writing, maintain detailed case records and extensive documentation, prepare reports and compose correspondence is essential. Employee must be competent and skilled to work independently. Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.

Please note: Applicants hired into this classification must obtain licensure as a Social Worker from the West Virginia Board of Social Work within a timeframe set by the appointing agency. Until licensure is obtained, they may not perform duties that require a licensed social worker under state law or Board regulation.
