Job Summary / Objectives:
This position is responsible for developing and implementing sales and business development plans and strategies that would increase the US entity’s market share growth in the automotive sector. This position will build strong sales relationships directly with major accounts, manage relationships with existing partners, and build business relationships with prospective clients.
This is a high-impact role with high visibility. The incumbent must be a strategic sales and business developer who is highly experienced in managing long-term contracts as well as complex accounts within the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute direct sales and business development efforts for North America. Develop and implement strategic and tactical marketing initiatives related to market share and competitive landscapes (global and domestic), focusing on the automotive industry.
- Participate in formulating long- and short-term goals and objectives for the sales organization and the organization at large.
- Identify and expand sales opportunities across targeted markets and develop and execute market penetration/entry strategies, activities and plans to meet business objectives.
- Manage and develop a key account team to ensure alignment with department goals and objectives.
- Ensure business relationships with existing customers are maintained while developing and acquiring new accounts.
- Develop proposals in response to customers’ requirements. Ensure product offering is optimized from both a technical and commercial basis.
- Negotiate long-term and complex contracts and understand all factors that influence the client’s decision-making process.
- Maintain competitive information, market knowledge, and technology trends regarding the pattern of demand, sales forecast and developments of technological trends in the automotive market sector.
- Coordinate projects with management, internal sales team within US and global sites and maintain appropriate levels of correspondence both internally and externally.
- Report regularly to sales management, including sales pipeline development, forecasting, key account status, market condition updates and general activity reports.
- Provide outstanding customer support. Manage customer inquiries, product consulting, complaints and other customer-related matters.
- Support and participate in local and international trade fairs, conferences, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Qualifications:
- Several years of experience in sales, business development and/or key account management capacity in the automotive or intralogistics industry.
- Proven track record in selling process-driven, highly engineered products and/or capital equipment sold across multiple sales channels and applications; experience engaging with key players/influencers to drive sales is a must have.
- Background and familiarity with the products and services (i.e., overhead and floor conveyors, Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems, skid/container conveyor technology, friction roller conveyors, and control units) is required.
- Technical background providing turnkey solutions from a single source in the areas of conveyor systems, automation technology, intralogistics, and special machine is highly preferred.
- Strong market background and familiarity with the current and new account base is strongly desired; the ideal candidate must have strong understanding of the changing tides in the North American automotive market.
- Strong key account management skills along with in-depth understanding of sales operations: how to build sales, structure deals, and apply appropriate discipline, tools, rewards and accountability to the sales process.
- Excellent sales-related skills set, including knowledge of the sales process, ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies, develop comprehensive sales proposals and negotiate complex contracts.
- Global perspective and awareness, and direct experience working across diverse cultures would be beneficial.
- Sound understanding of commercial business practices and the ability to align sales activities to support greater organizational objectives.
