Billing Resolution Specialist
The Billing Resolution Specialist works directly with customers, internal teams, and carrier partners to research, investigate, and resolve freight billing discrepancies. This role facilitates freight reconsignments, validates pricing accuracy, and ensures alignment between contracted rates and invoiced charges. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Billing Resolution Specialist
The Billing Resolution Specialist works directly with customers, internal teams, and carrier partners to research, investigate, and resolve freight billing discrepancies. This role facilitates freight reconsignments, validates pricing accuracy, and ensures alignment between contracted rates and invoiced charges. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
In This Role, You Will
- Act as a liaison between logistics customers, carrier partners, and internal teams (billing, operations, sales) to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
- Manage freight reconsignments by coordinating with clients and carriers, validating updated delivery details, and calculating accurate reroute pricing.
- Analyze billing discrepancies by reviewing invoices, contracts, and shipment details to identify errors and apply appropriate resolutions.
- Validate freight rating logic including base rates, discounts, accessorials, and fuel surcharges.
- Provide clear, detailed explanations of billing discrepancies to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Submit and manage disputes with carrier partners through resolution.
- Ensure timely and accurate audit record entry within Odyssey’s Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Support margin protection by confirming buy-side and sell-side alignment on shipments.
- Maintain dispute-ready documentation in compliance with Odyssey’s financial controls and client requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audit reviews by preparing documentation and summaries of findings.
- Communicate audit findings with operations, procurement, and finance teams.
- Identify recurring issues, systemic errors, or contract misalignments and provide feedback for improvement.
- Support reporting, KPIs, and performance metrics for the Audit Support Supervisor.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly audit reporting, process improvements, and system enhancement initiatives.

Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Supply Chain preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
- 1–3 years of experience in freight audit, billing, or financial operations (LTL/TL experience highly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of freight rating, accessorials, and standard billing practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and formulas.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and carrier billing platforms preferred.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage large data volumes accurately.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with BI or reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Prior experience supporting audit or financial compliance initiatives
- Exposure to system testing, automation, or workflow optimization projects
