Line Cook — Odesa by Chef Sergey
Location: 1716 W Wackerly St., Midland, MI
Pay: $17 per hour, based on experience
Job type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Odesa by Chef Sergey is looking for a reliable, motivated Line Cook to join our opening team. We specialize in Ukrainian and European cuisine, bringing together traditional recipes, comforting flavors, and thoughtful presentation.
We are a scratch kitchen. Our entire menu is prepared from scratch in-house. We don’t use store-bought pre-made dishes or heat-and-serve products. If you enjoy hands-on cooking and take pride in the food you prepare, we’d love to meet you.
You will work under Chef Sergey, chef and owner of Chef Sergey’s Bakery and Odesa by Chef Sergey, learning our recipes, techniques, and kitchen standards.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare ingredients and cook dishes according to our recipes and standards.
- Set up, stock, and maintain your station before and during service.
- Deliver consistent flavor, portion sizes, and presentation.
- Communicate with the kitchen team to keep orders moving smoothly.
- Follow food safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Store and label ingredients correctly, minimize waste, and help with closing duties.
What we’re looking for:
- Previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen.
- Solid cooking fundamentals, knife skills, and attention to detail.
- The ability to follow recipes and stay organized during busy service.
- Reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
- Experience with scratch cooking is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Ukrainian or European cuisine is welcome, but not required.
Opportunity to Grow
We’re looking for people who want to grow with us. This role offers opportunities to advance to Sous Chef and eventually Head Chef, with corresponding pay increases.
Advancement will depend on mastering our menu and kitchen operations, consistently producing excellent food, and developing the skills to train and lead a team.
