Position Summary
The Receiving / Stock Clerk is responsible for the accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and movement of raw materials, components, packaging, MRO items, and finished goods within a manufacturing facility. This role supports inventory accuracy, production uptime, warehouse organization, and safe material flow by ensuring inbound materials are received correctly, stocked appropriately, and issued to production or other internal departments in a timely manner. This position is hands-on and highly transactional, requiring strong attention to detail, safe material handling, and the ability to work within an ERP/WMS environment.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inbound Materials
- Receive inbound shipments of raw materials, packaging, components, spare parts, and operating supplies.
- Unload trucks and verify quantities against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and ASN documentation.
- Inspect incoming materials for visible damage, shortages, overages, and non-conformance.
- Tag, label, and stage incoming materials in designated receiving or quarantine areas.
- Escalate discrepancies, damaged goods, or supplier non-conformances to Purchasing, Quality, or Warehouse leadership.
Inventory & Stockroom Management
- Put away materials in assigned warehouse, stockroom, or line-side storage locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through ERP, barcode scanners, or warehouse management systems.
- Replenish production floor stock, Kanban bins, and point-of-use inventory as needed.
- Rotate stock using FIFO/FEFO practices where applicable.
- Conduct cycle counts and support physical inventories to maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Identify and report slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged inventory.
Material Handling / Internal Movement
- Move materials safely between receiving, warehouse, production, and shipping areas.
- Stage material for production work orders, kitting, or replenishment requests.
- Use forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, scanners, and other warehouse tools/equipment as required.
- Maintain organized storage locations, racking, and staging lanes.
Documentation & Systems
- Enter receipts, transfers, adjustments, and inventory transactions into ERP/WMS systems accurately and timely.
- Maintain receiving logs, inspection documentation, lot/serial tracking, and traceability records as required.
- Support compliance with inventory control, traceability, and audit requirements.
Safety / Housekeeping / Compliance
- Follow all plant safety, GMP, 5S, and housekeeping standards.
- Maintain clean and organized receiving docks, stockrooms, and storage areas.
- Comply with forklift and material handling safety procedures.
- Support quality and environmental requirements for storage, handling, and segregation of materials.
Required Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and transactional accuracy.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and warehouse best practices.
- Ability to read packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
- Comfortable using computers, handheld scanners, and ERP systems.
- Good communication and teamwork across operations, production, purchasing, and quality.
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- OSHA / warehouse safety training a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; heavier items with assistance or equipment.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related warehouse equipment (if certified).
