Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk (Yard Clerk) will schedule, sort, prepare and verify parts for delivery and pickup for our customers. This is a 2nd Shift Position: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive semi-finished and finished parts from work orders and inventory or prepare for shipment using an ERP system
- Receive and inventory parts in the warehouse and execute transactions in a computer system
- Conduct cycle counts and perform inventory adjustments as needed
- Use floor and benchtop weigh scales to determine piece counts for part containers
- Provide needed copies of shipping documentation when requested
- Organize the outbound work area to match shipping and truck loading schedules
- Input order information into customer/carrier websites as needed
- Must evaluate orders, shipments, labels and paperwork for errors
- Walk the stock yard to identify and document empty stock locations
- Perform row checks as time permits
- Respond to emails or Teams messages in reference to inventory as needed
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customers are satisfied
- Help train new shipping/receiving clerks
- Take initiative to perform other tasks such as cleaning or retagging when time permits
- Maintain good attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills:
- Basic math and reading skills
- Ability to perform math calculations using a computer or calculator
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with computers and data entry
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, BPCS, or similar
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook for email communications
- Familiarity with shipping systems
- Ability to learn various product SKUs and identify acceptable/unacceptable visual quality attributes
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally with other team members
- 1 year of shipping and/or receiving experience
- 1 year of customer service experience
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Physical Demands:
Job demands may require long periods of sitting, computer work, as well as interaction with other people. Facility conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and lifting.
Moderate exposure to shop conditions, which are variable depending on the task assigned, but are generally dirty. Is subject to shop noise. Involves extensive standing and walking. Skin and eyes are subject to drying and irritating fumes, vapors and solutions controlled to OSHA standards. Works both in and out of doors, normally indoors, with sometimes dusty or confining work areas when in the shop.
