Job Summary

Ocean View School District is looking to hire an Extensive Support Needs teacher for an elementary Special Day Class - Extensive Support Needs class (Grades 2-3). The District covers all costs for the Orange County Department of Education's Teacher Induction Program for our ESN teachers holding a preliminary credential. The cost varies between $3,600.00-$3,900.00 per program year. Interviews tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026.

Requirements / Qualifications

University Intern Credentials, Provisional Internship, Short-Term Staff Permit may be considered

Basic Functions: Under the supervision of the school principal, the SDC Teacher provides direct instruction and support services as specified in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for the special education pupils identified.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education: • Valid California Credential, authorizing service to Extensive Support Needs (or Moderate/Severe) students is required; • Possession of valid, current CPR and First Aid certification is required or obtain within two months of employment is required; • EL authorization or equivalent is required; • Autism Spectrum Authorization is preferred; • Multiple or Single Subject credential is preferred; • Master's Degree in Education or related field is preferred;

Experience: • Two years working with Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe) students is preferred; • Recent successful experience working with children with special needs and willingness to work with staff members and management in a collaborative manner. • Per the Ocean View Teachers Association (OVTA) Collective Bargaining Agreement, the district may only accept 5 years of previous teaching experience for placement on the Teacher's Salary Schedule.
