What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Activities Coordinator - Homeschool Program position at Ocean View Baptist Church Learning Center?
Please apply on really with your resume and also fill out the application found on our website at https://oceanviewlearningcenter.com/join-our-team/
Ocean View Learning Center is looking for someone special to help lead our elementary homeschool group!
Our homeschool program is a drop-off, relationship-centered Christian community for elementary-aged children. A place where children have time to play, build friendships, explore their interests, create, work together, and participate in meaningful hands-on experiences.
We are not trying to recreate a traditional school day. Our program includes plenty of indoor and outdoor play, along with art, STEM, science experiments, crafts, building projects, cooking, games, group challenges, Bible experiences, and other activities that make children excited to participate.
We are looking for someone who can help carry the day to day vision of the homeschool group, not simply supervise children or follow activities planned by someone else. This person will help plan and implement the daily, weekly, and monthly activities that give our program life.
What You’ll Do
The Homeschool Activities Coordinator will:
- Plan a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly activities for the homeschool group
- Develop hands-on art, STEM, science, craft, cooking, building, and group projects
- Gather supplies and prepare activities before the children arrive
- Lead activities in a way that is engaging, flexible, and appropriate for different ages
- Help create monthly themes, special days, collaborative projects, and seasonal experiences
- Supervise and actively engage with children during indoor and outdoor play
- Help children build friendships, solve problems, work together, and feel included
- Notice the children’s interests and use those interests to inspire future activities
- Help set up, clean up, organize supplies, and maintain inviting activity spaces
- Assist with transitions, snack, group gatherings, chapel, and the general flow of the day
- Work closely with the program director and other staff to plan and carry out the vision for the homeschool group
- Communicate needs, ideas, concerns, and activity plans clearly and consistently
We need someone who is:
- Creative and full of ideas, but also able to turn those ideas into actual plans
- Organized enough to plan ahead and have supplies ready
- Comfortable taking initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do each day
- Playful, flexible, dependable, and genuinely interested in children
- Able to manage a group while still allowing children freedom, choice, and creativity
- Comfortable getting messy, going outside, building things, experimenting, and joining children in play
- Able to adapt an activity when children take it in an unexpected direction
- Supportive of our Christian mission and willing to participate in chapel and faith-based experiences
Experience homeschooling, teaching, leading children’s programs, planning camps, or providing hands-on enrichment is strongly valued. This position may be especially appealing to a homeschool parent, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
A formal teaching license is not required. We care most about finding someone who understands our vision, loves children, takes initiative, and can help create the kind of homeschool community families want to be part of.
