Ocean State Media is the locally owned and operated award-winning public media organization serving Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. About the Role

We’re seeking a Development Coordinator to play a key role in supporting Ocean State Media’s fundraising and development efforts. This position is responsible for donor relations, providing administrative and data management support, and assisting with initiatives that generate revenue. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional customer service while actively promoting the mission and values of Ocean State Media.



What You’ll Do

  • Enter donations, member inquiries, and donor interactions into Customer Relationship Management system (CRM), ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • Provide excellent customer service to members, prospective members, and the public, responding to and resolving inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with our vendor on the gift processing of our daily gifts and handle all the follow-up inquiries
  • Manage the donor acknowledgment workflow to ensure timely and accurate donor recognition, including special handling gifts, major donors, and other priority communications.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of donor and membership data in CRM through routine audits, updates, and quality control checks.
  • Generate reports and lists from CRM to support fundraising and cultivation campaigns, donor stewardship, and operational decision-making.
  • Provide administrative support for membership initiatives.
  • Reconcile membership ACH gifts and donations with the accounts payable team
  • Coordinate matching gift and DAF requests from donors
  • Support the planning and execution of development and community events.
  • Coordinate across Community, Finance, and Audience Engagement teams to ensure alignment on donor services, gift processing, and campaign operations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors including call center, fulfillment house, and gift processing partners to ensure accurate and timely execution of membership and fundraising operations.
  • Monitor vendor performance and resolve operational issues related to donor services, gift processing, and premium fulfillment.
  • Track and communicate campaign updates, premium changes, and membership offers to relevant vendors.
  • Support membership campaigns, pledge drives, and fundraising initiatives by preparing lists, coordinating materials, and tracking operational details.
  • Some night and weekend work may be required for member events.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of fundraising and administrative experience required.
  • Experience working with fundraising or membership programs is a plus.
  • Experience working with CRM or donor database systems (ROI Solution’s revCRM, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Strong project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills; ability to work well under pressure and independently.
  • Strong attention to data accuracy and ability to work comfortably with CRM systems and reports.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate solutions with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management. Experience with Adobe Photoshop or other design tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the public, donors, and support events.
  • Passion for growing professionally and building expertise in the nonprofit sector.

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
