What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR position at OCEAN COUNTY YMCA INC?
Provides overall safety and direct supervision of children in our seasonal summer camp program. Needs to demonstrate the ability to be a positive role model, with the ability to provide leadership and stability to our summer camp community. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Qualifications:- Assist in implementation of Camp Program.
- Assist in supervising and managing a group of children between the ages of 5 to 13.
- Communicates effectively with staff, children, and parents.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings, as scheduled.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medial and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
- Ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
- Must undergo and pass a background check.
- Must be fingerprinted, if over the age of 18.
- Must become CPR and First Aid Certified.
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday with shifts from 8:00AM-4:00PM or 2:30PM-6:00PM
