About the Role
The Controller serves as a key financial leader within the organization, overseeing core accounting functions and supporting the financial strategy of the district. This role is a member of senior leadership to ensure sound financial practices, regulatory compliance, and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage financial operations, including accounts payable, payroll support, and cash flow management
- Oversee invoice processing, coding, and general ledger journal entries
- Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic planning
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and support audit processes
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure organizational stability
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and growth
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and state regulations
- Support oversight and coordination with outsourced Revenue Cycle Management vendors
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field preferred
- 3β5 years of recent accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare setting or Critical Access Hospital
- 4 years of leadership experience, including team supervision and project management
- Strong background in budgeting, financial analysis, auditing, and forecasting
- Experience working with Revenue Cycle Management vendors preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with healthcare systems such as EPIC is a plus
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and financial best practices
