- Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls.
- Responsible for determining nature of the call. Prioritizes all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Identifies the determinant and level of response and provides this and any additional information to the responding units.
- Provides emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority emergency medical dispatch system.
- Monitors status and availability of police, fire and medical units to assure an appropriate response is made.
- Maintains reports and retrieves needed statistical information using the fire incident reporting system(s).
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
- Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions or base closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications within 1 year of employment.
