Duties

  • Analyze future installation ammunition requirements on an annual basis by reviewing and validating each organizational unit's submission of projected ammunition needs by Department of Defense Identification Code (DODIC) ammunition line item.
  • Forecast Ammunition Authorizations such as maintains awareness of training plan execution throughout the fiscal year to determine the impact on the forecasting process.
  • Maintain awareness of ammunition allocated by the Committee for Ammunition Logistics Support (CALS) items, to ensure forecasts for these items are timely and accurate.
  • Perform a monthly Supply Control Study (SCS) to match the 90 day forecast against the total of the training ammunition on hand and due-in to determine shortages which require coordination with the Joint Munitions Command (JMC)for resupply.
  • Manage training ammunition authorizations to ensure Army Command (ACOM) usage standards are met or exceeded.
  • Review items for compatibility with weapons, range limitations, and purpose of training items are consistent with other ammunition requested.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with tenant ammunition personnel to provide information and guidance and to resolve support problems.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to work evenings, nights and weekends on a rotating shift, to cover 24 hour a day, 7 day a week range operation.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) two years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) monitors or resolves problems with training ammunition resources; 2) provides technical advice and assistance to units on operations in automated databases, such as Training Ammunition Management Systems (TAMIS) and procedural matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education:
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Public Safety.

Combination of Education and Experience
: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
