Duties

  • Plan weekly and monthly work schedule and sequence of operations for subordinates.
  • Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedule and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
  • Select workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirement, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures; and provides advice when problems arise.
  • Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required.
  • Review job descriptions for currency and accuracy and makes necessary changes; reports detailing of employees to jobs other than their own.
  • Direct work activities of seasonal, special project, and special employment program employees to complete workloads that due to the size and complexity of the activity serviced.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an General Maintenance and Operations Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Planning the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Plan weekly and monthly work schedule and sequence of operations for subordinates. Skilled in identifying potential problems within projects and making the necessary changes wither it be in personnel or equipment, to avoid the problems all together - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
