OAS is seeking an experienced Senior Computer Analyst to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Database Program. This position provides specialized software engineering, systems development, and geospatial data management expertise for an advanced airport database platform that supports the collection, management, validation, and distribution of airport data throughout the National Airspace System (NAS).
The selected candidate will lead the design, development, enhancement, and modernization of mission-critical applications while leveraging Agile development practices, cloud-native technologies, and geospatial data solutions. This role requires expertise in scalable software architecture, GIS-enabled systems, API development, and secure application design to support FAA airport data initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Geospatial Solutions
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications and system modules supporting the FAA airport data portfolio.
- Support geospatial platform modernization initiatives and the integration of multi-format airport survey datasets.
- Develop and maintain automated data validation, processing, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Design and implement data distribution architectures supporting:
- Web-based user applications
- APIs and web services
- Real-time data exchange and processing
- Develop capabilities supporting:
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Airport mapping and visualization
- Geospatial calculations and analysis
- Aeronautical survey data management
- Navigational Aid (NAVAID) integration
- Predictive analytics and reporting tools
- Support implementation of digital Airport Layout Plan (ALP) technologies and geospatial modernization efforts.
Cloud Architecture & Modernization
- Support migration and modernization efforts within the FAA Unified Cloud environment.
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions utilizing:
- Containerized microservices
- DevSecOps practices
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
- API-first architectures
- Implement scalable, highly available systems that support current and future operational requirements.
- Contribute to Zero Trust architecture initiatives and cloud security enhancements.
Software Engineering & Configuration Management
- Develop software using Agile and Scrum methodologies, including:
- User stories
- Sprint planning
- Daily standups
- Product backlog refinement
- Testing and release management
- Develop system architecture, design specifications, and technical frameworks prior to implementation.
- Maintain software configuration management and version control repositories.
- Produce technical documentation supporting design, deployment, testing, and maintenance activities.
- Participate in and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
Systems Integration & Security
- Ensure software solutions integrate seamlessly with FAA infrastructure, NAS operational systems, and external airport management platforms.
- Implement secure coding practices and software security controls in accordance with FAA cybersecurity policies.
- Support:
- OWASP secure coding standards
- Role-based access control (RBAC)
- Data encryption in transit and at rest
- Security vulnerability remediation and risk mitigation
- Assist with compliance requirements associated with FAA security and operational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Science, or related technical discipline.
- Eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Full software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
- Development of geospatial (GIS) or data-intensive applications
- API-first architecture and web service development
- Real-time data processing and distribution systems
- Cloud-native application development
- Containerized and microservices architectures
- Secure coding and application security practices
- Strong knowledge of:
- Agile and Scrum development methodologies
- Software version control and configuration management
- Geospatial datasets, imagery, and survey data formats
- User acceptance testing and software quality assurance processes
- Scalable system architecture and enterprise integration
- Ability to manage and optimize complex geospatial datasets.
- Ability to support integration with FAA and NAS operational systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials and access Sensitive Unclassified Information (SUI).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting FAA programs or federal aviation-related data systems.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS or comparable GIS development platforms.
- Experience supporting Digital Airport Layout Plan (ALP) development and implementation.
- Experience with:
- Kubernetes
- OpenShift
- Docker
- Federal cloud environments
- Experience supporting airport operations, aeronautical information systems, or aviation data management programs.
- Knowledge of FAA enterprise architecture and aviation data standards.
Education & Experience Equivalencies
The following substitutions may be applied:
- Master's degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of required experience.
- Ph.D. in a related discipline may substitute for four (4) years of required experience.
- Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $147,000
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. FAA PIV card and access to Sensitive Unclassified Information (SUI) required.
