Head Brewer — Obed & Isaac’s (Peoria, IL)
Own the brewhouse. Shape the lineup. Keep the beer (and the space) dialed.
We’re hiring a creative, systems-minded Head Brewer to run our 15 BBL brewhouse in Peoria. You’ll lead end-to-end production—brewing through packaging—collaborate on new releases with the team, and keep a spotless, well-run cellar and canning line.
What You’ll Own
- Day-to-day brewhouse operations: milling, mashing, lautering, boil, knockout, CIP/SIP.
- Cellar management: fermentation, dry-hopping, yeast health/pitching, transfers, carb, QA.
- Packaging: brite to kegs and cans; operate/maintain the canning line.
- Production planning: raw material forecasting, scheduling, inventory, vendor relationships.
- Quality & compliance: gravities, DO, carb, water checks, logs/TTB reporting, SOPs.
- Facility standards: rigorous sanitation, preventive maintenance, and a clean, organized floor.
- R&D: track trends and pilot recipes that fit our brand and beer gardens.
What You Bring
- 2 years experience as Brewer on a 7–20 BBL system.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Independent operator who communicates well and plays nice with the team.
- Pride in a spotless brewhouse and tight paperwork (SOPs, logs, TTB).
Physical/Work Realities
- Lift/move 55–60 lbs; climb, crouch, and work at heights >10 ft.
- Hot/cold/wet environments; occasional evenings/weekends for releases.
