OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. This role supports the financial management and strategic planning of Obayashi’s North American operations, including both group companies and U.S. holding entities. This role is responsible for reviewing and analyzing financial data, assisting with consolidated reporting, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and compliance activities. This position is based in Foster City with a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
[Group Companies]
- Review and verify financial reports submitted by Obayashi's North American group companies ("group companies")
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and related plans and projections for the North American group companies of Obayashi Corporation ("Obayashi").
- Assist in the analysis of consolidated financial data to contribute to the planning and development of financial and tax strategies for NARHQ.
- Assist in communication between the global HQ and the finance teams of group companies regarding financial, accounting, and tax matters.
- Coordinate with group companies and financial institutions to maintain parent company guarantees related to bonds, construction contracts, lines of credit, and letters of credit.
- Collect and compile data from group companies for J-SOX compliance; assist in follow-up communications with global HQ.
- Prepare and organize supporting financial data for Obayashi’s tax filings, in coordination with the Accounting Department and external tax consultants.
[US Holding Companies]
- Perform periodic financial reporting
- Prepare annual financial budgets & forecasts
- Assist in communication with an external auditor to perform an audit
- Daily and monthly cash management and monitoring
- The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed above, and other duties may be assigned
Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of financial reporting, accounting, tax, and financial analysis experience
- Work experience at a public international company is preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Experience in the construction industry is not required, but related field experience or a strong interest in the construction industry is a big plus
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Business Proficiency in Japanese is highly desirable.
- Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks or other ERP systems

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $95,000-$105,000 USD / yr

The final salary offered will be based on various factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and relevant market considerations. This salary range reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role within California. Compensation in other states may vary based on local market conditions and applicable regulations.
