OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking an M&A Lead Manager who will assist in supporting the company's M&A activities, focusing on the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic acquisitions and divestitures, primarily in North America. This role requires a solid understanding of the M&A process, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support Strategy Development:
- Assist senior management in defining the North American M&A strategy aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
- Conduct market research to identify potential acquisition targets and strategic partners.
- Deal Sourcing and Evaluation:
- Help develop and maintain a pipeline of potential acquisition opportunities.
- Perform initial screening and assessment of target companies.
- Conduct preliminary financial analysis and assist in due diligence efforts.
- Report the initial analysis to executives and the Tokyo HQ Strategic Development team in a timely manner
- Support the preparation of business cases and investment recommendations for executive review.
- Transaction Execution:
- Assist in negotiations with target companies and advisors.
- Support the structuring and execution of transactions by drafting and reviewing preliminary documents such as term sheets and letters of intent.
- Aid in managing the due diligence process by coordinating with internal teams and external advisors.
- Work with the North American subsidiaries of the company for their M&A opportunities to help them to move forward with the transactions.
- Collaborate with the Tokyo HQ Strategic Development Team to facilitate the internal transaction approval process.
- Post-Acquisition Integration:
- Support monitoring the performance of acquired businesses against acquisition goals and provide insights for improvement.
- Global Transaction Insights:
- Provide support in analyzing global M&A transaction opportunities, working closely with the Tokyo HQ Strategic Business Development team.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to those listed above, and other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in M&A, finance, or a related area.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills both in Japanese and English
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $130,000 - $190,000 USD / yr

The final salary offered will be based on various factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and relevant market considerations. This salary range reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role within California. Compensation in other states may vary based on local market conditions and applicable regulations.
