Assistant Controller

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller who is ready to take the next step in their career by joining a people-first organization and playing a key role in supporting our accounting and financial operations. As our Assistant Controller, you will partner closely with the Controller and executive leadership to help oversee the organization's financial health by ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and scalable financial processes that support our continued growth.

What You'll Do

• Support the Controller in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting processes.
• Partner with the Controller and executive leadership to provide financial analysis, operational insights, and strategic recommendations.
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while coordinating with external tax advisors.
• Assist with annual audits and serve as a primary contact for auditors during audit engagements.
• Monitor financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and recommend process improvements.
• Evaluate and improve accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial processes to support organizational growth.
• Serve as a key backup to the Controller and assume leadership responsibilities in their absence.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license is a plus
• 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and tax compliance.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Proven ability to improve accounting processes and implement scalable financial systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
• Ability to work onsite and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
