We're hiring a Crew Lead to help keep Alachua County roads, highways, and infrastructure safe while leading a small maintenance crew in the field. If you enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, solving problems, and helping a team succeed, this could be the opportunity for you.
No two days are exactly the same. One day you may be leading a pothole repair project, the next helping your crew trim or cut down trees, install signs, remove storm debris, repair guardrail, manage traffic control, or tackle roadside maintenance projects.
You'll work alongside your crew, not just supervise them. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll help plan the day's work, ensure jobs are completed safely, and support your team in the field.

- Can solve problems and make decisions in the field
- Is comfortable operating equipment and using hand tools
- Communicates well with crew members, supervisors, and the public
- Can respond to emergency situations after hours and when needed
- Leading a crew meeting before work begins
- Setting up work zone traffic control (MOT)
- Repairing signs, potholes, or roadside assets
- Operating equipment such as tractors, skid steers, mowers, and UTVs
- Managing vegetation and landscape maintenance
- Inspecting equipment and vehicles
- Training and coaching crew members
- Keeping projects on schedule and completed safely
