Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic financial team. The role involves preparing and filing accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses, staying up-to-date on tax laws, and providing strategic tax planning advice. Key responsibilities include analyzing financial data, identifying tax-saving opportunities, ensuring compliance, and assisting clients during audits.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure data accuracy.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with precision, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Perform financial report writing and interpretation to facilitate informed decision-making by management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards, securities law, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other applicable regulations.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms to streamline financial operations.
- Conduct audits and internal controls assessments to uphold organizational integrity and mitigate risks.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to optimize cash flow management and financial planning.
- Assist with tax preparation and planning activities leveraging tax experience related to corporate accounting and estate law when applicable.
- Mentor junior staff members by providing guidance on technical accounting concepts, GAAP standards, and best practices in public accounting environments.
- Collaborate across departments to improve processes related to governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, or private equity transactions as needed.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required; additional credentials such as CMA or CFA are a plus.
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a focus on financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance requirements, securities law, and regulatory frameworks relevant to various industries.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting areas such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger management.
- Experience with governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliation, and financial management strategies.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Strong communication skills for preparing comprehensive financial reports and explaining findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
